Sweetest Day

As you’ve seen before, there are some of these stupid holidays I can get behind, such as World Teacher Day. I’m not sure if Sweetest Day is one of those, but I can’t really bad mouth it so much. Sure, we already have Valentine’s Day, which a lot of you bitch about as just being a made-up holiday designed to suck money. And sure, that’s probably true, but V-Day not much different than the current incarnation of Christmas in that regard. At any rate, I don’t think it’s stupid to let the people you care about know that you care, but at the same time, this is something we should be doing all the time, not just on a single day.

“But, Chris …”

I know, I get it. I’m married. I’m an asshole who takes his wife for granted about 72% of the time. I’m moody, not as helpful as I should be, and there was a time recently that I didn’t tell her how much she means to me nearly enough. So, I get the “But, Chris …” more than you think I do. That said, the percentage above used to be a lot closer to 100. Not long ago, however, I had a rocky road and what came from the flat tires and broken axles in that adventure was a new sense of purpose in all things, but most importantly my relationship with my wife. That’s all I have to say about that, those who know already know and if you don’t, just understand relationships are volatile and unique and involve more than just one person. On this Sweetest Day, I will only say the same thing I’ve said every day for the last two months, and I’ll mean more than I did yesterday.

I love you, honey.

And here’s a small photo collection of me and my wife through the last 18 years or so…
